Dynamic duo at Kitchen W8 have rich pickings

It's a long time since I've had such a blast of luxurious extravagance outside a temple to haute cuisine. Chef Mark Kempson has worked not only at The Square but also the equally haute-ambitious Vineyard at Stockcross and, boy, does it show. 'English style with a French soul,' is how they put it.

Kitchen W8 - Michelin standard cooking at a bistro price

With two of London's leading restaurant personalities - Phil Howard of the Square and restaurateur Rebecca Mascarenhas - behind it you'd expect Kitchen W8 to be good but it delivers in spades.

At the moment this is one of London's great bargains, less hip than Hix but with even better food. Go while you can book and before they put up the prices.

Phil Howard does seem to have a magic touch

The whole team should be proud of what they have achieved, already reaching a standard that eludes the vast majority of London restaurants.

After a few incarnations in the past couple of years, Kitchen W8 seems to have finally found its niche

It's not hard to like a restaurant filled with customers exclaiming how nice their food is.
